I ask for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave.
feminazis or independant women?
Something is confusing me today. I was sitting outside on one of my breaks having a cigarette and I saw a man open a door for a woman he didn't know and step aside to let her enter before he went inside. Now, I consider this to be a very considerate action on his part, especially with how cold it is outside now... most people would simply just go inside to get away from the cold and the wind and let everyone else fend for themselves. I had finished my smoke while this went on and ended up following them inside a few seconds later, only to hear this woman complaining that he'd opened the door for her to a friend! She was pissed! I couldn't believe it. Ok, I can understand feminism in some ways, wanting to be independant isn't a bad thing, but there is a point where you're just going too far. Having a man open a door for you is not a terrible thing, its considerate, its kind, and I think its sweet. Yeah, maybe I'm a little bit of a throwback to another time, but I like it when a man opens my cardoor or puts my arm through his while we walk. If he asks me out, I'll let him pay the bill because it was his decision. I'm not about to throw a fit about it because I'm "too independant a woman" to allow such things. Its one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen, and I honestly can't understand why its such a huge thing. Why freak out over a little kindness on the part of a man, simply because he WAS a man? If it was a woman who'd held the door for her, would she have had a fit about it? I highly doubt it, simply because it was another woman doing it. I don't know, maybe I'm just more old fashioned than I realized.
